Alice L. Dotzler, age 80 of Aitkin died Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.
Alice was born August 25, 1939 at Rossburg, Minnesota the daughter of Frank and Hazel (Perry) Huber. She attended schools at Rossburg and Aitkin and she moved with her family to Kalispell, Montana for her senior year of high school. She returned with her family back to Aitkin and she married Donald B. Dotzler on June 21, 1958 in Aitkin. They made their home in the Cedarbrook area where they farmed dairy and beef cattle for many years. Alice began working in the Aitkin County Auditors office in 1962 and served two terms as auditor from 1991 to 1998. She also served as the Aitkin Township fire warden for many years. Alice was also a member of Riverwood Healthcare Auxiliary as well as the Aitkin Historical Society. Alice moved into Aitkin in 2018. She loved reading books and doing crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. She also loved feeding the humming birds and all of the birds in the wintertime.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Dotzler of Louisville, Ky.; Son and daughter in law: Brian and Vicki Dotzler of Anoka, Mn.; Grandchildren: Isabella, Isaac and Ethan Dotzler; Brothers: Franklin and Margaret Huber of Brainerd, Ronald and Wanda Huber of Brainerd, James Huber of Minneapolis, Warren and Sonia Huber of Buffalo, Mn., Sister: Audrey Bergstrom of Wyoming, Mn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in 1997 and sister Patsy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11 AM from St. James Catholic Church in Aitkin. Fr. David Forsman will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Aitkin. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
