Blanche Ida (Voss) Samuelson

Blanche Ida Samuelson, age 89 of Aitkin formerly of Lakeside Township of Aitkin County died Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.

Blanche was born July 16, 1930 in Round Lake Township of Jackson County, Minnesota the daughter of Harry and Ida (Bastman) Voss. She moved with her family to Lakeside Township near Isle at the age of 12. She attended the Eastwood School. She married Wilbur Samuelson on November 9, 1945 at Lakeside Township of Aitkin County. The lived various places and then moved to Brainerd in the early 1950’s. In 1959 they returned to Lakeside Township and made their home on the Samuelson Homestead. She and her husband operated a beef and dairy farm for many years. She retired from farming in 1993 when her husband Wilbur passed away. She also had worked at the Isle Bakery for many years and the Cenex Deli. She was a member of the Malmo Evangelical Free Church in Malmo and had volunteered at the Anne Remers Day Care. She loved spending time with her family and providing what she could for them.

She is survived by children and spouses: Marcia and Phil Heppner of Warroad, Mn., David and Elana (Loni) Samuelson of Isle, MN., Joanne (Joey) and Dan McGuire of Aitkin, Mn., Linda and David Burright of Jones, Ok., 1 brother: Lonnie Voss of Milaca, Mn.; Sister: June Nickel of Bruce, Wisc., 3 Granddaughters, 9 Grandsons, 18 Great Granddaughters, 10 Great Grandsons, 1 Great Great Granddaughter and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, 3 sisters and 1 brother.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at 11 AM from the Malmo Evangelical Free Church with Rev. Glenn Browning officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Opstead Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. www.srtfuneral.com
