Kristina Joy (Franzen) Derrick

Kristina Joy Franzen Derrick went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14, 2019. She was born in Aitkin, Minnesota on December 5, 1969, to Michael Franzen and Kathleen Pearson Franzen. She was the oldest of two daughters. She graduated from Apple Valley High School in 1988, where she was active in DECA (Distributing Education Clubs of America), a business, marketing and advertising club. She served as secretary for two years and competed in state and national competitions. In 1990, she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she lived for 14 years. Kristina held a number of positions there as a Skip Tracer, cashier, and secretarial jobs. When she returned to Minnesota, she became reacquainted with family and friends. She worked as a home care staffing coordinator, medical tech for Life Line Screening and various service positions.

Although Kristina wasn’t blessed with children, she loved other people’s children and her precious dogs. She played with, bought gifts for, and attended birthday parties for neighborhood children. She was “auntie” to many of them.

She loved gardening, crafting, reading, watching Minnesota sports, especially her beloved Minnesota Vikings! Her favorite color was purple; in fact, she had recently colored her hair purple and on her, it was cute! She had a wonderful sense of humor and a loud belly laugh. Kristina had a big heart and loved people of all ages.

She is predeceased by her grandparents: Howard and Delores Franzen; Albin (Beanie) and Doris Pearson; aunt Peggy Franzen Massood; and her faithful yellow lab Maya.

Kristina is survived by her father, Michael Franzen, Prior Lake; mother, Kathleen (Mark) Campbell, Brainerd; Kara Franzen (Jason Nordin), Eagan; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service celebrating Kristina’s life will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at 1:00PM at Glory Baptist Church, Aitkin, Minnesota with visitation one hour before the service and lunch to follow. Memorials to the family are preferred in lieu of flowers.
