Marjory Carlson Obituary

Marjory Ann Carlson, 88 of Aitkin died Friday, February 15, 2019 at Aitkin Health Services in Aitkin.  She was born July 9, 1930 in Nordland Township, Aitkin County, MN. to Gordon and Helga (West) Griffith.  She graduated from Aitkin High School in 1948.  Marjory was united in marriage to Donald Carlson on September 30, 1948 at the First Lutheran Church Parsonage in Aitkin.   She was a member and treasurer of the Glen Community Church, the Maria Chapel Ladies Aide, and First Lutheran Church in Aitkin.

She was a very good seamstress and did needle point, crocheting, counted cross stich, and quilting.   She enjoyed helping on the family farm, gardening, reading, cribbage, playing cards with the neighbors, and cleaning all the fish that Donald would catch.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Gordon and Helga (West) Griffith, son Arnold Carlson,

sister Shirley Berg, and brother Walter Griffith.

Marjory is survived by her husband of over 70 years Donald Carlson of Aitkin,

Daughter and son-in-law: Kathy (Fred) Daigle of North Carolina,

Son and daughter-in-law: Larry (Bonnie) Carlson of Aitkin,

3 grandchildren: Donald Edwin Carlson, Jason (Amy) Daigle, and Sarah (Earl) Van Horn,

4 great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ryley, Crosby, and Finnley,

Brother and sisters: Lois Berg, Jean (Gilbert) Lehman, Donald (Shirley) Griffith,

and Helen (Harry) Wilkerson,

Cousin: Hazel Mae,

And many other special relatives and friends.

 

Funeral Service will be 10:30A.M. – Thursday, February 21, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin.  Reverend Doug Larson will officiate.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in Diamond Lake Cemetery, Farm Island Township, Aitkin County, MN.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin.  www.srtfuneral.com Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
