Paul James Vopat

Paul James Vopat, 66, of Burnsville passed away, Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Fairview Ridges Medical Center, Burnsville.  He was born December 30, 1952 in Mitchell, South Dakota to Kenneth and Marjorie “Marge”  (Hoefert) Vopat.  Paul graduated from Bloomington High School.  He enjoyed fishing, downhill skiing, riding dirtbike, listening to music, going to concerts and watching sports.  Paul loved carpenter work and was very talented.  He was a member of Carpenters Local Union 322 of Minneapolis.  Paul was also a Private Pilot.

Paul is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Vopat; brother, Kent Vopat; sister, Lisa Krueger.

Paul is survived by his mother and step-father, Marjorie “Marge” Vopat-Byker and Gerald Byker of Aitkin; siblings, Susan (Jeff) Arneson of Palisade, David Vopat of Rapid City, South Dakota, Mark Vopat of Highmore, South Dakota, Nina (Robert) Mills of Apple Valley and Betsy (Greg) Drehmel of Lakeville; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Services will be held Saturday, May 25 at 11 AM in Glory Baptist Church, Aitkin.  Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church.  Burial will be in Glory Cemetery, Aitkin.  To sign the guestbook online, go to:  www.srtfuneral.com.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.
