Thora Ann Grostad

Thora Ann Grostad, 78 of Grayling Area – McGregor died Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth.  She was born January 16, 1941 in Spirit Lake, Iowa to Wilbur Willis and Ann Margaret (Matheson) Brosh.

Thora was united in marriage to Robert Henry Grostad on August 26, 1967 in Tamarack.  She was a homemaker and helped Robert on the family farm.  She enjoyed gardening, was a great baker and cook who made the best fried chicken and frosting.  She was a member of the Silly Sisters of McGregor.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert on January 2, 2004, 3 brothers: Vernon, Clayton, and Cliton Brosh, 1 sister Edith Brosh, 2 nieces: Peggy Brosh,  Jodi Brosh, 1 nephew Brian Brosh, and her parents Wilbur and Ann Brosh. 

Thora is survived by her 4 daughters: Christine Cox of McGregor, Cindy Horton of McGregor, Carla Gilbert of McGregor, and Robin (Lance) Allen of Grand Rapids.

9 grandchildren: Amy, Amanda, Alleshia, Kimberly, Andrew, Leah, Wyatt, Janessa, and Hunter.

14 great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Abby, Lydia, William, Bella, Winter, Cordel, Emma, Grayson, Sabrina, Roman, Mackenzie, Zoe, Freyja.

1 great-great-granddaughter Kallie,

and another great-great- grandchild on the way.

2 brothers: Ivan (Mariene) Brosh of Iowa and Dennis (linda) Brosh of Iowa.

5 sisters: Thelma Tiessen of McGregor, Milly (Ron) Feger of Iowa, Marilyn Baas of Minnesota, Ardell (David) Ehler of Fairmont, Sally (Donald) Appel of Aitkin.

Sister-in-law: Ella Brosh of Iowa, and many other special relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00P.M. - Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the McGregor Funeral Home in McGregor.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Grayling Cemetery – McGregor Township, Aitkin County, MN.   Arrangements are with McGregor Funeral Home & Cremation Services in McGregor.  www.srtfuneral.com
