Travis Lee Cartie, age 37 of Aitkin and Deerwood died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at his father’s home in Aitkin. Travis was born December 25, 1981 in Aitkin, Minnesota. He is the son of Allan Cartie and Debra (Weimer) Cartie. He grew up and attended school in Aitkin. After High School he moved on to work for Hanco in Wisconsin, a directional drilling co. for several years. He had also worked a short time at Magnum Machining in Deerwood and worked for Economy Garages for 18 years as a carpenter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching movies and video gaming. He also enjoyed his vehicles and spending a lot of time in the garage working on them. He is survived by his father: Al Cartie (Paulette Raskob) of Aitkin, Mother: Debra Cartie (Rod Christensen) of Aitkin; Brothers: Shane (Christel) Cartie of Deerwood, Justin Cartie of Aitkin; Sister: Shanna (Rob) Purdy of Aitkin; Nephews: Levi, Lucas, and Landen Cartie, Dylan, and Clayton Purdy, and Dylan Cartie. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 12 to 2 PM and following will be the funeral service at the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin with Pastor Dallas Smith officiating. After the funeral service, the family would like you to join them for a celebration of life at the Moose Lodge in Aitkin. Interment will be at a later date in the Waukenabo Cemetery.
