Alden Keith Peterson

Alden Peterson, 87 of Aitkin died peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024 at his son’s place at White Earth, MN. He was born on December 12, 1936 in Oldham, SD. the son of Carl and Viola (Becker) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Oldham Lutheran Church and graduated from Oldham High School in 1954. He worked for the Hattendorf Construction Co. and learned masonry. He helped build the new Oldham Lutheran Church and eight other churches in southern Minnesota, including St. John’s American Lutheran Church in Owatonna, where he met his future bride, Faye Frerichs. On March 8, 1959 Alden and Faye were united in marriage. 7 days after they were married Alden left for boot camp in Ft. Leonardwood, MO. They lived in Owatonna for 40 years. During that time he worked in construction, Gandy Co. and Wenger Corp. He worked at Owatonna Tool Co. for 27 years, many of those years as a supervisor of the machine shop. Alden and 2 other Supervisors established Pal’s Machining Shop LLC in Owatonna in 1991 and he retired in December of 1999. The couple then moved to their cabin in rural Aitkin and finally built a home on the site in 2001. His kindness and love for everyone will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and “OPA”.

He was a man of strong faith in God and was always willing to lend a hand. Alden is survived by his wife of 65 years, Faye Peterson

5 grandchildren: Brandon(Beki), Jamie (Shalane), Kelsey(Justin), Korey(Mel), and Jordan (Luke)

3 great-grandchildren: Freya, Cora and Camdon 2 brothers Rollo (Sharon) and Dale (Connie)

2 sisters-in-law: Ardella and Sarah Frerichs

And many other special relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

A celebration of Alden’s life will be 3pm – Thursday, August 29, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nordland Township, Aitkin. Pastor Rebecca Hinz will be the officiant. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
