Allen Dean Peterson of Kimberly Township, Aitkin, Mn passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2025, at the age of 77 doing what he enjoyed the most: planting and nurturing vegetables on the farm where he was raised. He was born on July 25, 1947. Allen spent his childhood on the family farm in Kimberly Township with his siblings, and mother and father Florence (Hill) Peterson and Elmer Peterson. He graduating Aitkin High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Air Force. After being discharged from the Air Force, he serviced restaurant and HVAC equipment throughout California. Subsequently he was employed as a mechanic to maintain farm and trucking equipment at Lassen Canyon Nursery in Redding, California. While employed at Lassen Canyon, he ordered new equipment and mechanical supplies, and helped develop innovations to existing equipment and designed and built new equipment to assist the company in its growth and efficiency as an organic strawberry grower. He also worked on collectors and racing cars and designed and built special purpose trailers. After his retirement, Allen returned to Aitkin and acquired property near the family farm. He spent much of his time working with his brother Leslie, sister Bev and brother-in-law Steve establishing a produce operation at the Peterson farm which had been fallow for decades. Allen pursued other past times including collecting and working on vintage tractors and other farm equipment, he was an avid reader of books and magazines, and followed professional racing. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Irene and Nancy, and his sister-in-law Connie Peterson. Survivors include his sisters and their spouses: Bev (Steven) Antonich, Sandy (Gary) Emerson, and Rita Peterson (Richard Levine); brothers Peter, Leslie and Kenny; 9 nieces/nephews; 16 grandnieces/nephews, 2 aunts and numerous cousins.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at the Forest Cemetery,34936 - 35168 330th Avenue, Aitkin, MN 56431. The visitation will begin at 10:30am at the cemetery and the service with military honors will begin at 11:00am. Lunch & Fellowship will be at the Glen - Kimberly Town Hall following the service.
