Barry Trent Ackley, 76 of Staples passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at Essentia – St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth. He was born April 20, 1947 in Sigourney, Iowa to Albert D. and Bernice V. (Bair) Ackley. He graduated from Aitkin High School in 1965. He attended Minneapolis Community Technical College and later Staples Vo-Tech earning a degree in Tool and Die Design. Barry lived in Staples and worked many different jobs during his life including small engine repair that he learned from his father. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, trapping, fishing and shooting. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Bernice Ackley. Barry is survived by his brother and sister-in-law: Craig (Shelly) Ackley of Glen; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Jackie (Al) Midthun of Mora and Cindy (Gary) Raynor of Eagan; 10 nieces and nephews: Joe Midthun, Anna Gaffey, Katie Piecek, Levi, Isaac, Hannah and Sam Ackley, Josh, Julie and Ben Raynor; Many other special relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Family and friends are invited to the inurnment 11am – Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Diamond Lake Cemetery, Aitkin. A Celebration of Barry’s life will follow at the former Ackleys’ Resort & Campground on Ripple Lake, Aitkin. Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin.
