Bernice Claire Brown, 84 of Aitkin passed away at her home. She was born November 26, 1938 in Melrose to Aloys and Agnes (Wielenberg) Kemper. She grew up on the farm with her siblings in Blackduck. She graduated from Blackduck High School and moved to Illinois where she raised her family. Bernice was united in marriage to Harvey Brown in July of 1982 and moved to International Falls. She was employed with Kmart in International Falls for many years and for other business’ during her work career. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, gardening and hunting. And after retirement she volunteered at the Senior Center, Meals on Wheels and Voyagers National Park. While living in Aitkin she enjoyed attending Saint James Catholic Church and playing cards or dominos with her friends at the Blackrock Apartments. She was preceded in death by her husband Harvey, Son David White, Brother Clarence Kemper, Sisters: Alma Tenoyen, Mary Stapleton and her parents: Aloys and Agnes Kemper.
Bernice is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Tim (Joanne) White; daughter and son-in-law: Gail (Michael) Klein; step-son and daughter-in-law: Mike (Cindy) Brown; grandchildren: Kimberly Certik, Adria LaForte, Tara Cardenas, Allison White, Shautelle Tiedeman, Kristin Wolfe, Ross Cardenas, Matthew White, Jamie Brown, Mikie Brown; great-grandchildren: Alphonse Wyman, Arora Wyman, Hazel Wolfe, Molly Wolfe, David Stavisch, Jayson Tiedeman, Cheynne Gee, Charlie Certik, Anna Curry, Gavin Burge, Tyler Young, Trysten Burge, and many nieces and nephews and other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be 11:00am - Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Saint James Catholic Church in Aitkin. Father Mike Patullo will be the officiant. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Summit Township Cemetery, Blackduck. Memorials are preferred to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
