Bette Lou (Smith) Peterson, 90, lifelong resident of Glen, MN. died Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin. She was born November 5, 1935 in Chicago, IL. the daughter of Robert and Irene (Nelson) Smith. The Smith’s loved Glen and spending their summers at Sugar Lake. Bette’s grandparents, Gust and Anna Nelson homesteaded in Glen and participated in the construction of the Glen Community Church over 100 years ago. Bette grew up in Illinois, graduated high school there and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She did her training at Hinsdale Hospital in suburban Chicago and then worked as a nurse at the Aitkin Community Hospital her entire career. Bette married Albert Peterson on December 31, 1966 in Wealthwood. Albert passed away February 24, 1984. Bette is survived by her son Ronald Smith, one granddaughter, three great-grandchildren and many other special friends who will miss her greatly.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Burial will be in Malmo Cemetery and Memorials may be directed to the Glen Community Church in care of Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. To leave a message of condolence, please go to www.srtfuneral.com
