Betty Ann Buttler, 76 of Aitkin died Thursday, June 26, 2025 at her home. She was born November 26, 1948 in Aitkin the daughter of Joseph and Martha (Knoll) Skaj. She grew up in Aitkin and graduated from Aitkin High School. Betty was united in marriage to James Lee Buttler on June 19, 1971 in McGregor. She was a wife of a soldier and worked for the telephone company in McGregor and Milaca, Dairy Farmed for 24 years, and worked for Steve Bare at Bare’s Bootery for many years. She was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Buttler in 1992, Brothers: John, Paul and Walter Skaj and her parents. Betty is survived by her husband James Buttler; Children: Janice Deering of Eagle River, Ak., Jeff & Kelly Buttler of McGregor, Chris & Rosanna Buttler of McGregor and Amber & Tim Woodrow of Aitkin; Grandchildren: Sydney & Ryker Long of Eagle River, AK., Lynae Hurd of Minneapolis, Preston Hurd of Bay City, TX., Henry, Hudson and Hayla Woodrow of Aitkin; Great-grandchild Revna Long; Sisters-in-law: JoAnn Skaj of Wellston, OH., Barbara Buttler of Gilbert and Betty Thomas of Shovel Lake; Foreign Exchange Son Jakob & Ireen Gruner and grandchildren: Vincent and Leo Gruner; The DeMenge Family; Paul Esparza; and many other special family and friends who mourn her passing.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00am – Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the Kimberly-Glen Town Hall.
Visitation will be 4pm to 6pm Friday, July 4, 2025 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church. www.srtfuneral.com
