Obituary

Bonita "Bonnie" Alvord Jackels was born on October 31, 1947 and passed away on July 8, 2023. She was the tenth of fifteen children born to Fabian and Elvina Alvord.  She went to Sacred Heart Catholic school for four years, and then moved to Foley and started fourth grade there.

Bonnie married Lee Jackels in 1965 and stayed married to him until 2005. They have three children: Brenda born January 5, 1966, Amy born October 21, 1967 and Benjamin born October 16, 1975.

Bonnie enjoyed every minute of being a wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She did not like to fish like her dad did, but she enjoyed his accordion music.  Bonnie inherited her mother's silly sense of humor. She enjoyed many dancing nights at  Parkway ballroom in Foley. In her later years, Bonnie enjoyed bridge and 500 card club. She was quite a bowler and had a 182 average at one point.

Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her special friends Sue Johnson, Carol Hartnet and Shirley Hensen. She's forever grateful for her special friend, Doug Sandmann. Bonnie enjoyed keeping in contact with people on Facebook in her last years.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Zane Adam; siblings, Marjorie Fisher, Richard Alvord, Ted Alvord, and Betsy Cardell. 

Bonnie is survived by 3 children, Brenda, Amy and Benjamin; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Kiplinger of California, Geraldine Stang of Sartell, Rose Garcia of St. Paul, Judith Holmgren of Sartell, Ruth Zulkowsky of Aitkin, Thomas Alvord of Connecticut, Jennifer Maertens of Henning, Judson Alvord of Emily, Laurie Hage of Florida and the baby of the family, Joseph Alvord of Tennessee.

A celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
