Bruce DuClos Obituary

Bruce Lee DuClos passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at home surrounded by family. He was born July 1, 1949 in Anoka, Minnesota the son of Jack and Jacquelyn (Berge) DuClos.

After graduating from Anoka High School, he worked for Main Motors in Anoka. He married Maewyn (Noreen) in 1972 and lived in Elk River where he earned his pilot's license.

Bruce enjoyed flying his Cessna 172 up to Isle to visit his Grandparents (Nanny & Popsy). They moved to Isle in 1976 where Bruce drove truck, worked with a friend to build log homes on Mille Lacs Lake and sold cars for a dealership in Isle. He worked for Lakes Gas and then joined Grand Casino Mille Lacs when it opened in 1991. While at the casino, Bruce met his wife Kathleen and they married in 2000. After 12 years at the casino, he and Kathleen opened DuClos Pet Boarding at their residence south of Aitkin. They operated that along with two grandchildren (Deven and Danielle) for 12 years.

Bruce was a renaissance man who was well traveled and lived through many experiences. He was a great person to go to for advice, and was known to his friends and family as a person who could fix anything. He loved apple pie, ice cream, apple jelly, foot rubs and any song by John Prine would be turned up to 11. His need to understand how things work sometimes caused interesting outcomes. Other passions included fast cars, guns, and shooting. The length of his texts were as legendary as his skills with tannerite. Bruce loved introducing his Grandkids to Monty Python and though he preferred being at home, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Jacquelyn DuClos,

and Chuck, his long-time friend and mentor.

Bruce is survived by his wife Kathleen and 5 children; Julie (Dan) Asmus, Jack DuClos,

Zack (Jennifer) Nyberg, Kelly (Neil) Torkelson, and Glendon (Jami) Nyberg.

Grandchildren; Stephanie Nyberg (Robert Hertenstein), Nicholas Hunter, Marina Nyberg,

Deven Ahmann (Abigail Schultz), Danielle Ahmann (Andrew Zuk), Finn Torkelson,

Isaac Asmus, Ashley Asmus, and Noah Nyberg.

Great Grandchildren; Maladu Hunter, Ryker and Loki Hertenstein, and Carter Ahmann.

Siblings; Brother Rick (Sue) DuClos, Sister Robin Knauer, Step-Brothers Jeff and Phil Miller, Step-Sisters Debbie Kinjo, Laurie Olivier; and many other special relatives and friends.
