Carol Porath Obituary

Carol Ann Porath, 82 of Brainerd & New Brighton passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin. She was born June 16, 1940 in Charles City, Iowa to Russell and Marion (Knutson) Perry. She graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1958. She worked as a secretary for Curtis Circulation until her son Brian was born, and was a wonderful stay at home mom from then on. She was a member of North United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years. She was very active in the UMW, and Faith Circle. She met her future husband, Chuck at the church, and they were married there on May 7, 1960. They stayed happily married for 62 years, until her death. Carol and Chuck have had a home in New Brighton for over 50 years. They have spent their retirement years at their lake home in Brainerd, where Carol enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. Every year she would keep a log of the many different birds she would see. Carol was always interested in genealogy, she compiled extensive family trees of both sides of our family dating back to the 1500’s. She was also an avid reader, and crossword puzzler.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law: Michelle Perry.

Carol is survived by her husband Chuck Porath,

Son: Brian Porath of New Brighton,

Daughter and son-in-law: Lynn (Chris) DeLambo of Portland, Oregon

Grandson: Zander DeLambo,

Brother: David Perry,

Sister and brother-in-law: Janet (Bob) Ostroot,

And many other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, that a donation be made in her honor to one of her favorite charities.
