Cathy Ann Burke (LaPlante)

Cathy-Ann Burke (LaPlante), 62 of Farm Island Lake-Aitkin passed away January 15, 2023 at her residence.  She was Born March 15, 1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Thomas and Margaret Burke, Cathy-Ann was a beloved mother, wife, and friend to many.  For over two decades, Cathy-Ann owned and managed the Summer Breeze Resort on Farm Island Lake, a place she held dear to her heart.  She was an animal lover, and her beloved dogs and cats were her constant companions. Her warm and friendly nature earned her the nickname “Chatty Cathy”, as she was always willing to connect with people through conversation.  Cathy-Ann was married to her beloved husband of 18 years, TJ (Thomas) LaPlante, for whom she worked hard to maintain the resort after his passing on November 16, 2009. They were married in Chicago, IL on August 30, 1991 and moved all over the United States until finally settling down in Aitkin, Minnesota.  Cathy-Ann was a devoted mother who loved her children more than words can explain, and was always so proud of all of their accomplishments.  She is survived by her son Colton, daughter Cierra, her mother Margaret Ann Burke, her brother Thomas Burke, his wife Rachel and their four children Spencer, Paige, Ryan, and Dane.
