Charles “Chuck” Emil Knutson, Jr., 83, of McGregor, passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 in Essentia St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth. Chuck was born in McGregor on April 17, 1937 to Charles and Theresa (Richards) Knutson. He spent his younger years growing and exploring at his home on Savanna Lake. His family moved to Bloomington for his high school years. Chuck served in the Navy-Air from 1956 to 1962. He worked in the sheet metal industry until health issues forced him to retire. He married Geraldine Drew in 1956 and had two children. In 1979, Chuck married Marlys and moved back to McGregor. Chuck was an outdoor person with a very inventive mind. Many people also knew him as a prankster. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, along with many other activities. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of McGregor, Dale Wayrynen American Legion Post #23 of McGregor and Sheet Metal #10 Union. Chuck will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ada Rice; brothers, Bud Brown and John Knutson.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Marlys Knutson; son, James (Patricia) Knutson; daughter, Kathryn (Brian) Wegner; step-children, Kim (Bruce) Shaver, Lori (David) Ando, Gwyn (Dick) Doenz, Tammy (Leroy) Phillips, Dawn (Kevin) Adams and Chad (Paula) Fisher; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; many other family and friends.
