Charles Henry Rich was born in Virginia, MN, on April 1st, 1947, and passed away suddenly on April 1st, 2019, at his winter home in Indio, CA.
Charlie graduated from Edina High School in 1965, later enlisting in the Navy, where he served for 4 years. Charlie returned home and attended Dunwoody, got married and started a family,
After 34 years as a tool and die maker at Honeywell/Alliant Tech, Charlie retired to the lake in Aitkin in 2007. A snowbird in the winter, Charlie enjoyed his time in California. He was an avid fisherman (although the fish are all still in the lake, where he “left them”), and bike rider. He also enjoyed reading, playing pool and roasting hotdogs over the fire pit while enjoying the “champagne of beers”.
Charlie is survived by partner Char Mardock, children Lori (Jim) Nusbaum, and Ted (Theresa) Rich; grandchildren Alexandra, Samantha, Jadon and Elaine Marie; brother Ralph (Sonny) and several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was proceeded in death by his adopted parents Theodore and Olga Catlin; ex-wife Elaine (Henkels Rich) Snyder; nephew Brandon, and parents Ralph and Bessie.
Viewing, and Gathering of Memories on Friday, April 12th, from 10 am – 12 pm at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home. Bring your stories of Charlie to share. Burial at Diamond Lake Cemetery with military honors provided by the Aitkin VFW and American Legion Posts. Lunch will be at the 40 Club Convention Center to follow.
