Clayton Matthew “Clay” Purdy, 19 of Aitkin passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at HCMC in Minneapolis. He was born September 6, 2004 in Saint Cloud the son of Rob and Shanna (Cartie) Purdy. He graduated from Aitkin High School in 2023 and while in school he enjoyed playing basketball and track & field, he was particularly fond of the pole vault. Clayton had a tender heart, evident in his care for family pets and his recent venture into raising chickens with his girlfriend Madelyn and his mother. He formed a special bond with friends, teammates, coaches and teachers. Clayton was a big-hearted person who cherished his many friendships and loved spending time, golfing, hanging out at the lake, enjoying sushi, playing cards, or gaming. Clayton’s life was filled with love and joy, and he was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his baby with a mix of nerves, excitement and fear like any expectant parent.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robert and Adeline Purdy and his uncle Travis Cartie.
Clayton will be dearly missed by his parents: Rob and Shanna (Cartie) Purdy;
brother Dylan Purdy, girlfriend Madelyn Strohmayer and their unborn baby; Grandpa Al Cartie; Grandma Deb Cartie; many special aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Because his favorite color was yellow and he was a ray of sunshine for so many, Clayton’s family asks that you wear yellow as a remembrance when attending the following services:
Funeral service will be 11:00am – Monday, June 24, 2024 at the Aitkin High School Auditorium in Aitkin. Pastor Larry Burg will be the officiant.
