David John Hagen, 81 of Aitkin died Friday, April 3, 2020 at his home. He was born December 12, 1938 in Minneapolis to Alfred E. and Elaine F. (Miller) Hagen.
On November 21, 1987, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa, David was united in marriage to Mary Jo (Osterdyk) Maxwell. He worked in the auto body repair business, and was affiliated with Hagen’s Auto Body in Minneapolis. David took great pride in his ability to repair and paint cars, especially old antique cars. He was a hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He was proud to keep his lawn looking like a golf course. He so looked forward to Tuesday 7:00 Morning Men’s Bible Studies that he would get up at 5:00 so as not be late. He was a retired member of the Mound and Palisade Fire Dept.
David loved being with his family for the holidays.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Elaine Hagen;
Brothers: Robert and William; sisters: June, Karen, Shirley, and Phillis; grandchildren: Christopher and Nicholas Hagen; step-granddaughter Jessie Bailey; nieces: Laura and Charlotte; step-son Michael (Yogi) Orpin.
David is survived by his wife Mary Jo Hagen of Aitkin;

Dale Hagen (significant other Pam) of Hill City,
Aaron (Tammy) Hagen of Aitkin,
Brian Hagen (significant other Linda) of Brainerd;
Daughter: Dawn (James) Hicks of Palisade;
Step-sons: James H. Maxwell of Hill City,
Mark Orpen of Duluth;
Step-daughters: Dagny (Blake) Rickbeil of Bertha,
Lisa (Connie) Robinson of Bonaire, GA.
Brother: John “Jack” (Irene) Hagen of Nisswa
11 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren,
10 step-great grandchildren, and many other special relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
