David Martin Holm

David Martin Holm, 81, of Palisade, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at his home.  He was born November 9, 1941 in Aitkin to Martin and Dorothy (Tibbets) Holm.  Dave entered the U.S. Army in 1959, and retired as a Master Sargent after 27 ½ years of service. He worked as a mechanic following his military career. He enjoyed wrenching on things in his spare time as well, but also working with his uncle and brothers – logging, sawing lumber, and building. He was an exceedingly kind, gentle and generous man. Strong in faith, character, and principle. His compassion for those in need knew no bounds. He enjoyed traveling, especially with Millie. Together they enjoyed many a road trip around the country, visiting friends, family and taking in all the wondrous scenery along their route. He loved to play the guitar, especially on Tuesday evenings. His quick wit and sense of humor stayed with him through his final hours.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Millie; his parents; brother, Daniel; sisters, Dorothy, Donna and Debra.

Dave is survived by his children, Mark (Jenna) Holm, Donna (Greg) Webb, Marlene (Brian) Pierzina and William and (Clara) O’Brien; grandchildren, Cathy, Beth, Rick (Kristi), Billy (Kate), Brian (Janessa), Rhonda (Nick), Dalton (Joy); great grandchildren, Ariel, Koral, Jax, Avery, Destiny, Marly Mae, Eystan, Channing, Wyatt, Diezel, Amelia, London, Colton, Judson, Embree and Lennox; siblings, Dennis (Lois), Darrell (Marcia) and Darlene (Bob) Amundson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 10 from 10-1 PM with Military Honors taking place at 1 PM at the Waukenabo Town Hall.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Palisade V.F.W.
