Donna Mae Vikla, age 84 of McGregor, passed away on June 4th, 2024 at Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin, MN.
Donna was born on December 23rd, 1939 in Prior Lake, MN to George Karl Raemer and Hannah Naomi Raemer (Olson). She grew up in Prior Lake, MN and graduated from Prior Lake High School on May 23rd, 1957.
Donna married the love of her life, Floyd Vikla, on June 8th, 1957 in Prior Lake. MN.
She loved to dance and would attend many dances, which is how she and her husband, Floyd, met. He was playing with his band, The Jolly Musicians at that time.
Donna and Floyd purchased their first home together in Richfield, MN in 1960. There, they raised their family until moving to McGregor, MN in 1973, after purchasing the Shamrock Ballroom, which they ran until 1981.
Donna had an extremely warm and welcoming personality and treated everyone with kindness. She had many friends who she loved to get together and visit with. Once you met Donna, she was your friend for life.
Donna was an extraordinary mother and grandmother. She played a very important role in each of her children and grandchildren's lives; they meant the absolute world to her and she loved them all dearly.
She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church in McGregor and enjoyed attending Sunday services with her husband, Floyd.
Donna also enjoyed cooking, baking, watching the Minnesota Vikings, Timberwolves, Twins and she loved all animals.
A special thanks goes out to Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin, MN for taking such wonderful care of Donna over the last five years.
Donna is survived by three children; Randy (Sherrie) Vikla; Barb (Paul) Nelson; Bruce Vikla (Amy Hayes); five grandchildren, Jamie Vikla, Jessica Vikla, Samantha Nelson, Jazlyn Vikla and Alex Hayes; and two great-grandchildren, Zander Preston and Ariya Preston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Karen Raemer; daughter, Cindy Vikla and husband, Floyd Vikla.
A private service for immediate family will be held at Grace Lutheran Church.
