Doris E. Nordean

Doris E. Nordean, 87 of Aitkin, died Monday, December 30, 2019 at Aicota Health Care Center in Aitkin.  She was born September 12, 1932 in Aitkin to Henry C. and Agnes E. (Johnson) Hanson.  She attended Thor grade school and graduated from Aitkin High School in 1949.  Doris was united in marriage to Robert Nordean on October 13, 1956 in Aitkin.  She was employed by Aitkin County Family Services for over 20 years.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Jaques Art Center, Aitkin County Historical Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  Her love of people and local history led to a lifetime of research and genealogy.  She compiled histories of Lee Township, Thor Zion Lutheran Church, School District No. 13, and Saron Cemetery in Glen Township.  She documented the histories of her own families and assisted many others to find their ancestors or relatives.  Her greatest joy was when her research led to reuniting family members.  She took great pride in her home and beautiful yard.  She loved mowing and trimming, collecting antiques, picking wild berries and making jam.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2000, son Dale in 2012, and brothers Edwin and Donald Hanson.

4 grandchildren: Mali, Dan, Bailey, and Drew Nordean,

Brother: Alvin Hanson, and many other special relatives and friends

A memorial service will be 11:00A.M. – Saturday, January 11, 2020 at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  www.srtfuneral.com
