Ellen Kosola (nee Randall), 76, of Aitkin, passed away peacefully at Riverwood Hospital in Aitkin, Minnesota, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 18, 1948, in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. Ellen lived a life full of compassion, grace, and deep love of others. She was a devoted wife to her husband Albert “Al” Kosola, and a loving mother to her children: John (Lydia Olson) Petrowske, Steve (Valarie) Petrowske, Christine (Eric Heskin) Glover, Kim (Ron) Niday, Terry Kosola. Ellen cherished her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, finding immense joy in their laughter, milestones, and the love they brought into her life. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Randall, Eleanor Johnson and stepson Rick Kosola. Ellen is survived by her beloved siblings: Chad (Marty) Randall, Suzy Johnson, Jenny Smith, and Charlie (Heidi) Johnson. Ellen's kindness was known by all who met her. She was the most loving and gentle soul, a true friend to many and someone who gave her heart freely and unconditionally. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to explore the countryside, always making time to drive up the North Shore whenever she could. She took joy in meeting people, often saying that “everyone is the nicest people.” She found peace and happiness in nature – watching birds, tending her garden, or simply enjoying the outdoors. She also loved puzzles, scenic road trips with Al, and discovering new restaurants. Her heart was most at home near a lake, where she could take in the serenity. Ellen was a proud member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mora. Ellen spoke fondly of her church and found strength and community in her faith. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Riverwood Hospital and to those who helped care for Ellen throughout her journey. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Her legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, at 12 PM in Sorenson Root Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Flowers are welcome and may be sent to 31 Minnesota Ave. S, Aitkin MN or in lieu of flowers, donations may also be made in Ellens honor to the National Multiple Sclerosis at www.nationalmssociety.org To leave a message of condolence, please visit: www.srtfuneral.com.
