Ethel “Joanne” Erlandson, 82 went to her heavenly home surrounded by family on August 16, 2020 after a battle with kidney disease and a short battle with cancer. She was born February 27, 1938 in Washington, D.C. to William and Eunice (Gumm) Horan. Joanne was united in marriage to Herbert Erlandson on June 1, 1956 in Opstead. Joanne worked at both Aicota Health Care Center and Birchwood Café as a cook, making the best cinnamon rolls ever. Joanne enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking, baking and collecting cookbooks. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joanne was loved by everyone and a “second” mom to many.
Joanne is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; her parents; son-in-law, Raymond Evans; brothers, Harold and Joey Horan; sister, Shirley Miller and other relatives.
Joanne is survived by 5 children, Patti Erlandson of Baxter, Linda Erlandson of Aitkin, Betty Evans of Aitkin, Barbara Erlandson of Stockton, California and John Erlandson of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Luke (Kelsi) Evans, Teya (Bert) Nelson, John (Erin) Erlandson, Carl Erlandson, Jaya Erlandson and Jayme Erlandson; great grandchildren, Lyla and Reed Nelson, Ellie and Cole Evans and Baby Boy Erlandson due in December; sister-in-law, Jane Bluhm; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A small, private service will be held at a later date.
