Eugene Nardini

Eugene “Gene” Nardini,  peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 17, 2023 at the age of 87.  Gene was born December 6, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois to Dominic and Mary (Panegasser) Nardini, he was one of 13 children. After graduating high school, he moved to Winona to attend college and play football at Winona State where he achieved Little All-American Honors in football and his master’s degree in education. During his freshman year at Winona State he met the love of his life, Donna (Voss) Nardini. They were united in marriage on August 13, 1960 in Adrian.  Together they built their family in Crystal where he taught in the Robbinsdale School District for 33 years.  After retirement he and Donna moved to a lake home in Aitkin during the summer months, and wintered in Tucson, AZ.  He was an avid golfer, hiker, hunter, fisherman and lover of the outdoors.  His passion also included traveling where he visited all 50 states and over 35 countries. 

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and 10 of his siblings.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Donna, of 63 years, children Michael (Susan) Nardini, Lynn (Mark) Horn, David (Christina) Nardini, grandchildren, Gina Horn, Samantha (Logan) Meyer, Jacob Nardini, Nicole Nardini, Anthony Nardini, Isabella Nardini, Gabriella Nardini, and soon to be 2 great grandchildren.  

The Nardini family would like to thank the staff at Riverwood Healthcare Center for their care and comfort for our father and our family. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 21 at 11 AM in St. James Catholic Church, 299 Red Oak Drive, Aitkin, MN 56431 with Father Mike Patullo officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Private interment will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church.  Visit www.srtfuneral.com to sign the guestbook online.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
