Eugene Henry Narr

Eugene “Gene” H. Narr, age 88 of Palisade formerly of Plymouth, Mn died Thursday, August 22, 2019 at his home.

Gene was born March 29, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Henry and Lylia (Benson) Narr. He grew up and attended school at Oak Knoll, Mn. He worked in his father’s garage and also worked for P.R. Flowers, for the Dog Catcher, and as a golf caddy in his youth. He married Caroline Anderson on June 30, 1950 in Wayzata, Mn. They lived various places but settled in Plymouth, Mn. He had worked as a cab driver, Grain Belt Beverage Co. and Sexton Foods. He also worked part time parking cars at the country club for 20 years. He and his wife moved up to Waukenabo Lake near Palisade when they retired in 1989. They have lived here since. He was a member of the Hilltop Chapel and had served as treasurer for 21 years. He also served on the Waukenabo Town Board, was a member of the Up North Golden Age Club and arranged for all of the bands for the senior dances and he also worked many years at Larson’s Barn for the dances.

He is survived by Children: Wendy and Gene Shavlik of Spring Park, Mn., Steve and Valerie Narr of Plymouth, Mn., Daniel and Sally Narr of Columbia Heights, Mn., Randy Narr of New York Mills, Mn., Sandra and Mark Toepper of Perham, Mn.; 21 grandchildren, 22 Great Grandchildren and Sister: Georgianna Burkholder of Stillwater, Mn. He was preceded in death by his wife Caroline in 2013, Parent Henry and Lylia and step father Chester Wechler, and twin great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday August 26, 2019 at 1 PM from the Hilltop Chapel, 49448 Osprey Ave., Palisade, Mn. 56469 with Rev. Barry Hite officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 PM until 7 PM at the Hilltop Chapel. Interment will be in the Waukenabo Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Aitkin.
