Fern Ince

Fern Ince 97 of Aitkin passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Aicota Assisted Living.  She was born August 9, 1926 in Fowler, Indiana the daughter of Meddie and Delcine Deno and later was raised by William and Eva Lenoue.  Fern was united in marriage to George Ince on August 31, 1946 in Appleton, Minnesota.  Together they owned and operated Diamond Lake Resort near Aitkin from 1960 to 1975.  She worked at Butlers in downtown Aitkin for 25 years and a homemaker.  Fern and George enjoyed traveling together and after Georged passed away Fern continued to travel.  She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, doing embroidery, needle work and ceramics.  Fern was a member the local bowling league, Ladies Aid, American Legion Auxiliary, Riverwood Auxiliary, Riverboat Lioness, neighborhood card club, Maria Chapel Ladies Aide and Saint James Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband: George Ince, granddaughter: Amanda Anderson Meyer, brother: Cecil Deno, sisters: Margurite Lanie, Annabelle Lanie and Priscilla Wallpe, step-brothers: Russell, Fritz, Pete and Clifford Lanoue,

Parents: Meddie and Delcine Deno and William and Eva Lenoue.

Sam Boyer, Andrew Ince (Taylor), Brittney Silgen (Andrew),

Danielle Ince and Jakob Ince;

And many other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be 11am – Friday, October 13, 2023 at Saint James Catholic Church in Aitkin.  Father Mike Patullo will officiate.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be in Diamond Lake Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin.  To leave a message of condolence go to www.srtfuneral.com
