Gary LeRoy Arness, 79, of Palisade, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2023 at his home. He was born September 1, 1944 in Duluth to Jens and Millie (Gudvangen) Arness. Gary graduated from Aitkin High School and enlisted in the Army in 1962. He was employed by Shamrock Industries and Hawkinson’s. Gary was an active member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Color Guard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and visiting and supporting his neighbors and friends (Alice, Shirley, Jeanette, Marilyn, June, Bonnie, Greg and Jerry). Gary will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Jens and Millie; sisters, Alice, Shirley, Jeanette, Marilyn, June and Bonnie; brothers, Jerry and Greg.
Gary is survived by his siblings, Bev Pappas, Arlene (Don) Casey, Joyce (Charles) Rovell, Jr. Corrine Greely, Sandra Anderson, Joan (Roy) Sherlock, John (Linda) Arness and Bobby Arness; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be Thursday, November 2 at 2 PM in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be provided by Palisade V.F.W.
