Gary James Danmeier, 71, of McGregor, formerly of St. Paul, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at his home on Lake Minnewawa.  He was born August 11, 1954 in St. Paul to Eugene and Patricia (Egan) Danmeier.  Gary was united in marriage to Sally Krautbauer on August 25, 1979 in St. Paul.  Gary owned and operated Turf & Snow Service, Inc. until retiring and moving to McGregor in 2020.  Gary enjoyed collecting Hydrosteam Boats and loved taking road trips across the country to often purchase one.  At one time it was believed that he had the largest personal collection.  Gary was known as the dog whisperer.  All dogs he encountered were drawn to him (maybe because he always had a dog treat in his pocket).  He enjoyed watching hockey and football and having a dollar bet with his grandsons.  Gary also loved to watch his granddaughters dance.  He also loved hunting with his son, son-in-law and friends.  He was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.  Gary was always available to mentor and help anyone.  He loved to share his knowledge about how to make your lawn look great.  He was very proud of his children and how they turned out.

Gary’s family would like to thank the staff at Regions Oncology Department for all of their support and kindness during this cancer journey.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Sally Danmeier of McGregor; children, Sarah (Ed) Jones of Northfield and Jacob (Jessica) Danmeier of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Nolan, Carly, Kaylee, and Cooper, brother, Paul (Sandy) Danmeier;as well as other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held August 8, 2026 at his favorite spot, his home on Lake Minnewawa.

As Gary always said, “Shiny Side Up!”
