Gary “Butch” Francis Rogers, 84 of Palisade passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at his residence from a short battle with cancer and a heart condition. He was born October 18, 1940 in St. Paul the son of Sydney F. and Gladys D. Rogers, M.D. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Humboldt High School. Gary met Gloria Campi while in high school and they were united in marriage on August 18, 1962 at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in St. Paul. They started their family and moved to Northfield where they raised their 4 children. They later moved to Faribault and in 2002 they moved to Palisade. Gary worked for 3M Company where he held various positions in marketing and management over 36 years, retiring in 1996. Gary and Gloria enjoyed traveling and seeing the United States and Canada with their travel trailer. A highlight was their trip to Italy in 2015 to gather her family genealogy. They enjoyed fishing at their Section 12 Lake cabin with their family, gardening, working in the woods, being outdoors and square dancing for over 30 years. He was an Army National Guard Veteran, serving for 7 years. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years, was a member of the Palisade Co-op, Waukenabo Township board, Waukenabo Cemetery Supervisor, and was an active member and Treasurer for Bethel Lutheran Church in Palisade. He was a very social person who could start up a conversation with a total stranger. He was an active volunteer in the community. Gary was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and will be truly missed by his wife Gloria of Palisade; Children: Gerald of Minneapolis, Glen (Sue) of St. Cloud, FL., Gordon (Terri) of Isanti, and Gayle (Shawn) Lorence of Northfield; Grandchildren: Emily, Jacob, Ashley, Jackson, Elizabeth, Alex and Krista; Great-grandchildren: Lilyan, Tyr and Rowan. And many other special relatives and friends who mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents Sydney and Gladys, brother Loren and sister Jean.
Funeral Service will be 12pm - Monday, April 28, 2025 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Palisade. Pastor Steven Teff will be the officiant. Visitation will be 3pm – 5pm Sunday, April 27 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin and will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Waukenabo Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Aitkin American Legion Lee post #86 and Aitkin VFW Roberts-Glad Post #1727.
