Gene W. Boyes, 91 of Tamarack passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Villa Vista in Cromwell. He was born June 29, 1932 in McGregor the son of Eddy and Dora (Friestad) Boyes. He attended Tamarack and McGregor schools and while in the U.S. Army at Camp Polk, Louisiana, he graduated high school. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Korean War in 1953 & 54. He worked aboard a Great Lakes Ore ship during the season of 1955. He attended vocational school in Los Angeles in 1956 &57 and worked as a machinist for many years there. Gene was united in marriage to Maureen Locke on February 20, 1965 in Minneapolis. They moved to Tamarack in 1966 where he was involved in farming and logging. He attended the Tamarack Presbyterian Church for many years and also the Tamarack Lutheran Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother Jim and his parents.
Gene is survived by his wife Maureen Boyes;
Sons and daughter-in-law: Terry and Nona Boyes and Scott Boyes;
Many other special relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1pm – Friday, May 24, 2024 at Round Lake Presbyterian Church, McGregor. Pastor Diane Brennan will lead the service. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are with McGregor Funeral Home & Cremation Services in McGregor.
