Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Wickham, 84, of Dam Lake, Aitkin, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home. He was born November 12, 1940 in Minneapolis to Orland and Catherine (Miller) Wickham. Jerry was united in marriage to Dolores Bernhagen on April 30, 1960 in Minneapolis. Jerry was a veteran of The United States Navy who served on the USS Notable during the Cuban Missile Crisis and The Bay of Pigs in 1961 and 1962. Jerry was employed by Metropolitan Transit in Minneapolis before retiring to Dam Lake with Dolores. He enjoyed hunting, fishing (Jerry and Dolores had an annual salmon fishing trip for 30 years to Lake Michigan), cutting firewood, woodworking, cabinet making (Jerry made all of the cabinets and trim in their house), reloading shells and especially spending time with his family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Kevin Gerald; brothers, Eugene, John, Bernard, Tony and Thomas; sister, Mary Pingree.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; children, Catherine (Craig) Clermont of Minneapolis, Margaret (Daniel) Pearson of Sunrise and Patrick (Darla Blegen) Wickham of Aitkin; grandchildren, Christina Bartholomew, Brandon Bartholomew, Elizabeth (Daniel) Christopherson and Craig Clermont, Jr.; great grandchildren, Alyssa Bartholomew, Audrey Bartholomew, Isabella Christopherson and Olivia Christopherson; brother, William “Bill” (Laura) Wickham of Crosslake; sister, Judith “Judy” Wickham of St. Paul; his cat, “Jack”; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 29 at 11 AM in St. James Catholic Church, Aitkin with Father Michael Patullo officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be provided by Aitkin American Legion Post #86 and Aitkin V.F.W. Post #1727. Interment will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Aitkin at a later date.
