Isabel “Anne” Gunn, 85, of Palisade, passed away June 26, 2023, at Whitefish Assisted Living in Crosslake. She was born in Bissett, Manitoba Canada, to John and Isabel Cooper on July 24, 1937. She grew up in Canada with her only sister, Colleen, working on the family farm, having fun ice skating with her sister and neighborhood friends. Her childhood was an idyllic time in her life, which she recalled fondly.
She attended Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing in Winnipeg, Canada to become a Registered Nurse in 1959. Her mother and sister also attended the same School of Nursing. She met the love of her life Len Gunn in 1958. They went on to marry on July 9, 1960. She became a very dedicated nurse helping anyone who needed her assistance. Len and Anne settled on a farm in Carbury Manitoba Canada to start their family where Glenn and Rob were born. They decided to move to Minnesota USA in 1969 for better job opportunities.
They settled in St Louis Park where Anne continued to work in the healthcare field. They had their third son, Gordon, on USA soil. Anne loved singing with her Manor Tones Choir in St Louis Park. When Glenn and Rob were grown and out of the house, they decided to move to Minnetonka with young Gordon. They remained living there until Len and Anne decided to retire and move north to the lake. Anne continued to help her neighbors and friends with her nursing knowledge and joining many groups. She had a wonderful quilting group around the lake that produced many beautiful blankets. Anne was always a loving, caring and creative person that everyone loved.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Len; son, Gordon; grandson, Justin.
Anne is survived by her sons, Glenn (Tina) and Robert (Stephanie) and her grandsons Jake, Ryan and Cody; sister, Colleen McIntyre; nieces, Cathy and Sharon; nephew, Geoff and her cat, Sam-Sam.
A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be Saturday, July 29th at 11 AM at Hilltop Chapel, Palisade with Pastor Joel Holm officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
