James Raymond Carlson, 82, of Big Sandy Lake, McGregor, formerly of Plymouth and Minneapolis, passed away on December 7, 2021. Jim was a 1957 graduate of Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Jim graduated from the University of Minnesota and went on to earn his Masters Degree in Math at the University of Oregon. Jim loved life to the fullest. Enjoying his family, traveling, working and giving to the community gave him the most joy. In his retirement, he touched many lives in the McGregor/Aitkin County community volunteering for many organizations.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ann; daughters, Cynthia Jacobs and Anne Langford Altermatt (John); grandsons, Charlie Langford (Kara) and Joe Langford; granddaughters, Grace Jacobs (Al) and Julia Jacobs; soon-to-be great-grandson Langford; sister, Kathie Cichanski (Roger); aunt, Gertrude Vanda; brother-in-law, Tom Nelson (Mary); many cousins, nieces, nephews.
A memorial service followed by interment with military honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will be planned for a later date.
