James Christian Holm

James “Chris” Christian Holm, 67, of Aitkin, died peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 14, 2023 after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer.

He was born on December 2nd, 1955 to James and Ramona (Baker) Holm and graduated from Hill City High School in 1973.  He worked in his family's business until moving to Princeton to work with Hohlen Sewer and Excavating.  In 1980, he joined the National Guard and attained the rank of Sargeant.  In 1993, he was honorably discharged. James worked the remaining years at WCI in Foreston, MN until he retired at the age of 64.

James was united in marriage to Karen Swanson on October 24, 1981 in Aitkin. They had two children, Monica and Bryan.  James' favorite hobbies were hunting, four wheeling, fishing, camping, bonfires, and spending time with family & friends. He loved his children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

James is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Monica (Isaac) Landrus and Bryan (Lisa) Holm; 5 grandchildren, Brooke, Brenna, & Mya Landrus and Mikaela & Kory Holm.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Jim & Ramona Holm; brother, Bob Holm and many cousins, aunts, and uncles.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, December 2nd at 11 AM at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin with Pastor Larry Burg officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.  The family is honoring Chris by wearing camouflage or blaze orange during the Celebration of Life. You are welcomed to join us.  Military Honors will be provided by Aitkin American Legion Post #86 and Aitkin V.F.W. Post #1727.  Special thanks to Tony Holm, Butch & Janice Carr, Jeff & Helen Workman, Glen & Linda Bakken, Brett & Megan Workman, Tim & Kelsie Espeseth for being there when we needed you the most.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
