James Morrison Obituary

James Joseph Morrison passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at his home at the age of 74.

A Beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend. Jim was known for his exceptional kindness and compassion and was truly a friend to all he met.

James was born on August 20, 1951, in Saint Paul, Minnesota the son of James Paul and Mary Ann (Balsimo) Morrison. He grew up in Roseville and graduated from Alexander Ramsey High School in 1969. He was a talented hockey player and baseball pitcher throughout high school and went on to play American Legion Baseball after graduation.  In 1970, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He completed boot camp at Camp Pendleton in California and served at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He was an extremely proud Marine veteran.  Following his service, Jim drove truck for Schanno Transportation and Koch Trucking and later owned and operated J & J Trucking with his father.  After suffering a stroke and undergoing open heart surgery in 2007, he retired and moved to the Mille Lacs Lake area, where he lived in his dream home overlooking a golf course near the lake.

Jim was an avid golfer and fisherman. He loved relaxing at home, where you could always find a classic movie playing on TV. He had an in-depth knowledge of history and many other subjects. He was a connoisseur of all things delicious and loved to enjoy a good meal with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Mary Ann Morrison, grandparents Joseph and Mary Balsimo and Paul and Svea Morrison.

He is survived by his sisters: Lee Ann (Dick) Seppala, Diane Morrison Kieffer, Debbie (Fred) Dally, Jan (Vern) Nelson, and Mary Jo (Paul) Capistrant; nieces and nephews: Erin (Mike) Kager, Shannon (Matt) Royer, Courtney Seppala, Megan and Mary Kieffer, Sam Dally, Danny (Lizzie) Dally, Jennifer, Nicole, and Curtis Nelson, Justin and Andy Capistrant, Kayla (John) Sargent-Clark; and many great-nieces and nephews.  Jim will be dearly missed.
