Janet Rode

Janet Rode, 75 of Aitkin died April 9, 2025 at Rivers Edge in Aitkin.  She was born April 30, 1949 at St. Barnabas Hospital in Minneapolis the daughter of Lloyd and Eileen (Bennett) Leerssen.  She was baptized and confirmed at Victory Memorial Church in Minneapolis and then graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1967.  Janet married Thomas Burns in 1969 and their daughter Meredith was born in 1970.  In 1992 Janet was united in marriage to Varian Rode in Milbanks, SD.  They were married for 30 years.  She enjoyed collecting roosters.  She was preceded in death by her husband Varian in 2022, grandparents Carlton and Mabel Bennett, three sets of aunts and uncles and her parents Lloyd and Eileen Leerssen.  Janet is survived by her daughter Meredith Howe, sister Sharon Leerssen, many other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
