Janice Drescich

Janice Ellen Drescich 87, of Aitkin, died Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.  She was born May 12, 1938 in Hibbing the daughter of Adam Anthony and Beatrice Ellen (Rootes) Grobove.  She graduated  from Hibbing High School in 1956.  She earned her LPN degree and was very proud of being a nurse for over 25 years, retiring from the Big Fork Valley Hospital in Big Fork, MN.  She was a member of the Catholic Church and attended in Aitkin and Nashwauk.  She was Shop Steward for the nursing union, a member of the Riverwood Health Care Auxiliary, past President for the Lawrence Lake Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Vice President of the residence council at her senior living community.  She enjoyed volunteering, feeding and watching the humming birds, gardening and bowling.  She was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Beatrice Grobove, first husband Delano Nelson, Sr., second husband Louis Drescich, son Delano Nelson, Jr., daughter Yvonne Simon, siblings: Elaine, Adam, Richard and Linda. 

Janice is survived by her daughters: Brenda (Dwight) Pearson of Aitkin and Sandra Nelson of Aitkin;  grandchildren: Jason Gauwitz, Jen (Lito) Burgos, Gabe (Tammy) Nelson, Marcel (Abby Ann) Simon Maurice Simon;  great-grandchildren: Owen, Maharlika, Gia, Mateo, Hailey and Reese;  sister Arlene (Ted) Jarvis of Cohasset;  sister-in-law Jean Grobove; many other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
