Joanne Mae (Lenzen) Drew

Joanne Mae Drew, 87 of Aitkin, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 in Aicota Health Care Center, Aitkin.  She was born February 6, 1932 in Minneapolis to Ernest and Annie (Buckentine)

Lenzen.  Joanne graduated from Chaska High School.  She was united in marriage to Donald Drew on April 21, 1951 in Carver.  Joanne and Donald moved to Aitkin in 1960.  She worked at Ben Franklin for a short time before becoming the Aitkin Junior High Principal’s Secretary for 20+ years. Joanne also volunteered at Riverwood Health Care for 20+ years.  She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Aitkin.  Joanne enjoyed watching baseball, fishing, traveling, doing puzzles, being outdoors and especially spending time with her family.  Joanne made a lasting impression on everyone she met and will be dearly missed. 

Joanne is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Ann Schlegelmilch, Lillian Stacy, Alvina Petroske, Marion Deis and Eleanor Stauffenecker; brother, Ernest Lenzen; brothers-in-law, Gil Schlegelmilch, Jerry Stacy, Pete Petroske, Elmer Deis, Delmar Kloos, James Drew, Larry Kamann and Harvey Drew; sister-in-law, Elaine Drew.

Joanne is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Donald Drew of Aitkin; son, Joel (Diane) Drew of Alexandria; daughter, Patricia Ann (David) McLaughlin of Ortonville; grandchildren, Daniel (Becca) McLaughlin, Leah (Wayne) Howe, Colleen (Marc) DelValle, Ross McLaughlin, Lindsey (Bryce) Emmons and Jackie (Nate) Peterson; great grandchildren, Maverick, Sabastian and Paisley Hammers, Gage and Oakley Peterson, Cylas and Deeliah Emmons; brother, Donald Lenzen of Groveland, Florida and John Lenzen of Chaska; sister, Donna Kloos of Chaska; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 27 from 4-6 P.M. in Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.  Services will be held Friday, July 19, at 11 AM in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Aitkin with visitation 1 hour prior to the service in the church.  Pastor David Becker will officiate.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.  To sign the guestbook online, go to:  www.srtfuneral.com.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
