John William Menter, 77, of Jacobson, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025 at his home. He was born September 4, 1948 in Crosby, Minnesota to Ralph and Florence (Sutherland) Menter. John graduated from McGregor High School where he set a school record in Track and played on the football team. John worked all over the country doing construction in Alaska, Louisiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, Florida and Kansas and finally retiring after his last job, the new 35W bridge in Minneapolis. John enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and after retirement spent his time selling produce and flowers at the local farmers market and collecting treasures for scrapping. He was a faithful fan of the Vikings and treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.
John is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Menter; sisters, Florentine Menter and Joanne Montes; and brother-in-law, Jim Gould.
John is survived by his daughter, Becky (Brian) Beckius of Buffalo; son, Mike (Miranda); grandchildren, Ellen Beckius, Victor Beckius, Daniel and Savannah; great granddaughter, Willow Gunderson; the love of his life, Nancy Hartman and her sons, Brad and Tom. Sisters Shirley Gould and Rosemary (Jerry) Fisher; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
