Karen Marie (Halverson) Oleson Nelson

Karen Marie (Halverson) Oleson Nelson, 84 of McGregor passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Care Free Assisted Living in McGregor.  She was born November 12, 1939 in Sauk Center the daughter of Orris and Bernice (Hallermann) Halverson.  Karen married Lodver Oleson on November 5, 1958.  They made their home in Zimmerman and in 1976 they moved to Palisade.  On March 17, 1992 Karen married Richard Nelson.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed the outdoors, sewing “Raggedy Ann & Andy” dolls, 4 wheeling and the casino.  She was preceded in death by her parents Orris and Bernice, husbands Lodver and Richard, 2 brothers-in-law and 2 nieces.

Karen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Patty (Rick) Rian of Palisade; granddaughter: Amanda (Darrin)Ashton-Weimer of Aitkin; grandson: Greg (Kristi) Rian of Duluth; 2 great-grandsons: Colton and Dawson Weimer; 5 sisters: Kathleen Dueker of Osakis, Judy Bentfield of Wisconsin, Jane (Wally) Walther of St. Cloud, Joann (Vernon) Dirkes of Sauk Center, Sue (Bob) Malbon of Robbinsdale; and many other special relatives and friends who mourn her passing.

The family would like to thank the staff at Care Free Living and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care that Karen recieved.

A Celebration of Life will be 1 – 4pm Friday, October 18, 2024 at the McGregor Community Center in McGregor.  Pastor Scott Stinson will be the officiant.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Aitkin.  To leave a message of condolence, please go to www.srtfuneral.com.
