Katherine Elizabeth (Maul) Hurd

Katherine Elizabeth Maul Hurd, 95 years, Aitkin, passed away of natural causes on Thursday, September 15, 2022 with her children by her side. She was born on May 23, 1927, in Aitkin, Minnesota to Mary (Walsh) Maul and Wilder Maul. Katherine was united in marriage to Kenneth Hurd on June 5, 1947, in Aitkin. They were married 71 years.  Katherine worked at Butler’s V store for many years. She adored flowers and gardening. She had many flower beds and several huge vegetable gardens. She said she was born to work. She was a very happy person and laughed every day. She loved being with her family.

Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Mark Hurd, and her husband, Ken.

Katherine is survived by her children, Paul (Mary) Hurd, Aitkin, Judy (Bob) Peters, Princeton, Jennie (Rick) Maine, Tamarack, 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services for immediate family will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 2 PM at Glory Baptist Church, Aitkin with Pastor Chris Meirose officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church.  A light luncheon to follow.  Katherine’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Moments Hospice and Melissa Trujillo for the care Katherine received.  To sign the guestbook online, go to:  www.srtfuneral.com.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
