Kay Marie Pelto-Lund

Kay Marie Pelto-Lund arrived in heaven on September 11, 2025.   Her journey in life was over; she had completed the race that was set before her.   Kay was born on March 4, 1966 in Golden Valley, MN to Mervin and Martha (Lindrus) Pelto.  She joined three sisters: Cheryl, Gail and Joanne.  Kay was very creative, smart and determined.  Having graduated with honors from North High School in Minneapolis, MN, in 1984, Kay went on to work at Burger King.  She successfully managed several faltering Burger King Restaurants bringing them back to health.  Kay also enjoyed dogs.  She liked having one or two around and felt lonely if there were none.

Kay married Wayne H. Lund on July 30, 1993 in Minneapolis.  They moved to the McGregor area in the mid-1990s and Kay has lived there ever since. Kay and Wayne owned and operated Pelto-Lund Cleaning Service until his passing in 2015.  On December 19, 2022 Kay was united in marriage to Ed Tahedl.  They enjoyed living in their Prairie River cabin.  Ed passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Kay had a variety of other jobs including being the Activities Director at CareFree Living in McGregor which was her favorite job. 

Kay loved Jesus. He was her Savior.  She relied on His strength as she overcame many struggles in her life.  Kay is survived by her father, Mervin Pelto, and her sisters Gail (Gary) Zikan and Joanne (Marty) Quinlin. She has 4 nephews and 1 niece.  Kay is preceded in death by her husbands: Wayne Lund and Ed Tahedl; her mother, Martha Pelto; and her sister and her brother in law, Cheryl and Bob Kipp; and many furry friends.

Thank you to all the physicians and medical staff that provided care and encouragement to Kay as she dealt with this grueling disease.

Services will be Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11 AM in McGregor Funeral Home with Scott Stinson officiating.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Interment will be at a later date in St. Henry Cemetery, Nisula, Michigan.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.  Please visit:  www.srtfuneral.com for the full obituary and to leave a message of condolence.  Arrangements are with McGregor Funeral Home and Cremation Service, McGregor.
