LaVerne Doris (Erkkila) Wayrynen-Malinen

LaVerne Doris Wayrynen-Malinen, 91, of McGregor, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 in Villa Vista Cardinal Court, Cromwell.  She was born April 20, 1928 in Eveleth to Ed and Enni (Gustafson) Erkkila.  LaVerne graduated from McGregor High School in 1945.  LaVerne was united in marriage to her first husband, Eugene Wayrynen on June 15, 1946 in Thompson and her second husband, Edward Malinen on June 13, 1999 in McGregor.  She enjoyed  sewing, crocheting, embroidery, reading and collecting dolls and stuffed teddy bears.  LaVerne was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of McGregor as well as the church LWML, V.F.W. Post #2747 Auxiliary of McGregor, Dale Wayrynen American Legion Post #23 Auxiliary of McGregor and Rice River Senior Citizens.

LaVerne is preceded in death by her husbands, Eugene Wayrynen and Edward Malinen; her parents; 2 sons, Dale and Randy Wayrynen.

LaVerne is survived by 2 sons, David (Susan) Wayrynen of Randall and John Wayrynen of McGregor; 2 grandchildren, Ann and Gena; 2 great grandchildren, Nathan and Drew; 1 brother, Raymond Erkkila of Superior, WI; several other relatives and friends. 

Services will be Friday, June 14 at 1 P.M. at Rice River Senior Center, 32270 Hwy 65, McGregor.  A gathering of family and friends will be from Noon to 1 PM at the center.  Burial will be in Rice River Cemetery, Rice River Township.  To sign the guestbook online, go to:  www.srtfuneral.com.  Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Aitkin.
