Larry L. Walker, 68, of Garrison passed away Monday, June 30, 2025. He was born January 24, 1957 in Huron, South Dakota to Kent and Cora (Davidson) Walker, Sr. Larry was the kind of man who made an impression – gritty, loyal, funny as hell and unapologetically himself.
A true “man’s man”, he loved fishing, hunting, cold beer and a good cigarette. If country music was on and the boat motor wasn’t working, you could bet he was in the garage fixing it – probably while cracking jokes and swearing like a sailor. He was a longtime, hard-working employee at Hitchcock Industries and devoted family man through and through.
Back in the day, he drove race cars at Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN – fast, loud and full throttle, just like he lived. He also took great pride in teaching his daughter how to trap shoot and loved nothing more than spending time fishing and hunting with his son. Those were the kinds of moments he lived for: simple, hands-on, and full of heart.
Even after suffering a brain injury, Larry’s spirit never changed. He kept the same sharp humor, stubborn grit and no-filter personality that made him unforgettable. He enjoyed watching fishing and hunting shows and took pride in his massive collection of VHS action movies – because in his world, the more explosions, the better.
Above all, he was a protector and provider, a straight-shooter with a soft spot for his people, even if he pretended not to show it. His legacy lives on in the stories, laughs and memories we’ll carry forever.
We’ll miss him deeply, but we’ll carry on with a cold drink in hand, some country music playing and his spirit riding shotgun.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kent Walker, Jr.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Louise Walker; daughter, Maria (Tony) Payne; son, Nick (Amanda) Walker; grandchildren, Tony Payne, Brittany Walker, Wesley Walker and Oliver Walker; 3 great grandchildren; sisters, Cora Pieper, Terry Walker and Sandy (Tim) Berge; brother, Jeff (Debbie) Walker; other relatives and friends.
