Larry "Buzz" Lindbo Obituary

Larry "Buzz" Allen Lindbo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born on February 16, 1947 in Rolla, North Dakota, Buzz lived a life full of passion, kindness, and adventure. He was 78 years old at the time of his passing.

Buzz was the son of Art and Hazel Lindbo, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and a love for family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Don, granddaughter Edie and brother-in-law Dean Hall . His legacy, however, continues through his wife of 50 years, Judi, and their three children: daughter Lara (Tom) Parkin, and sons Leif (Sarah) Lindbo and Jody (Sadie) Lindbo. Buzz was a proud grandfather to Seth, Reed, Greta, Owen, and Louise, who were the light of his life.  He is also survived by his sister Joan Hall, brother and sister-in-law: Harlan (Clara) Lindbo, sister in-law Beverly Lindbo and many other special relatives and friends.

Buzz and Judi recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 28, 2024, a remarkable milestone that reflected their deep love and commitment to one another. Their marriage was a partnership filled with shared dreams, laughter, and countless adventures, including many memorable cruises that took them around the world.

A proud graduate of the University of North Dakota, Buzz was an ardent supporter of the Fighting Sioux hockey team. His passion for sports extended beyond college hockey, as he was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers and the LA Dodgers. Buzz was known to be a spirited and sometimes obnoxious supporter, rarely missing a game and always reminding friends and family of the outcomes. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and he often brought people together in celebration or friendly debate.

Buzz had a distinguished career, first making his mark in executive leadership within the grocery distribution industry. In 1997, he took a leap of faith and purchased the Farm Island Store, proudly operating it for 17 years. Through his work at the store, he became a beloved figure in the community, forging lasting friendships and bringing smiles to the faces of visitors and locals alike.

In 2010, Buzz was given the grave diagnosis of stage 4 metastatic lung cancer and given 6 months to live.  With a 3 year old grandson and 2 more grandchildren on the way, Buzz had other plans.  A combination of Norwegian stubbornness, luck, incredible doctors, and God’s grace, he fought hard to have an additional 14 years.  Buzz took advantage of these “bonus years” by spending time with all of his grandchildren and taking extra trips with the family.

As a member of First Lutheran Church in Aitkin, Minnesota, Buzz was deeply committed to his faith and community service. His big personality lit up any room he entered; he was quick with a smile and a witty remark that brought joy to those around him.

Buzz’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of all who knew him. He was a remarkable man whose legacy will be cherished by his family and friends. His laughter, kindness, and larger-than-life presence will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the memories shared by those who loved him.
