Lucy Jane Arends

Lucy Jane Arends, 80 of Malmo died Monday, December 25, 2023 at Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.  She was born July 3, 1943 in Pine Island to Francis and Bertha (Rahbine) Rehling.  She worked many jobs including factory work at Tonka Toy Co., the Fischer Nut Co., Knox Lumber, and at the Arsenal. Lucy was united in marriage to Donald James Arends, Sr. on August 12, 1965 in Watertown, South Dakota.  She was preceded in death by her daughter Candice Sniatynsky, son Rick Dickman, sister Donna Nimeth, brother Craig Rehling and her parents Francis and Bertha Rehling. 

Lucy is survived by her husband of 58 years Donald Arends, Sr.;

Children: Brian (Dawn) Arends of Isanti and Donald Arends, Jr. of Malmo;

Grandchildren: Ashley, Tyler, Trevor, Jade, Zephrin and Caleb;

Great-grandchildren: McKenna, Winter and Rylynn;

Sister: Gale Dill;

Brothers: Chuck and Kirk Rehling;

And many other special relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 1pm – Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.  Pastor Dallas Smith will be the officiant.  Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids at a later date.  Go to www.srtfuneral.com to leave a message of condolence.
