Majda Magdelena Bajda, 77 of McGregor died Sunday, June 29, 2025 at Golden Horizons in Aitkin. She was born January 26, 1948 in a refugee camp in Spittal, Austria the daughter of Vencl and Angela (Osel) Medved who were refugees from Slovenia, the old Yugoslavia. The family moved to Batawa, Ontario, Canada in 1950. She grew up in Batawa and graduated from high school in the secretarial program. She worked at the Batawa shoe factory as an assembly line worker and then as Secretary to the Credit Manager. She then moved to Toronto where she worked for the Castrol Oil Company. Majda Medved was united in marriage to John Bajda on August 16, 1969 in Toronto, Ontario. They moved to McGregor where she worked at the State Bank of McGregor, Holy Family Catholic Church as a secretary, McGregor Schools as a substitute secretary and as a desk clerk at Country Meadows Hotel. She was preceded in death by her parents Vencl and Angela Medved and brother Marjan. She is survived by her husband John of McGregor; 2 sons Paul (Carrie) and Andre; 3 grandchildren: Kendall, Gavin and Kolton; sister and brother-in-law: Aloise (David) Muskiluke; brother and sister-in-law: Darko (Judy) Medved all from Batawa, Ontario; 4 nephews and nieces on the Medved side and many more on the Bajda side.
Memorial Mass will be 11am – Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, McGregor. Arrangements are with McGregor Funeral Home & Cremation Services in McGregor. To leave a message of condolence please go to www.srtfuneral.com.
